Pride and excitement electrified Warriors Hall on the Killeen campus as Texas A&M University-Central Texas celebrated 164 graduates in a summer commencement filled with family bonds and triumphant cheers.
Graduates walked the aisle hand-in-hand with loved ones, creating an intimate, supportive atmosphere that turned the event into a shared family milestone.

At the ceremony's end, families reunited to exit together, amplifying the joy of earning bachelor's and master's degrees in a close-knit community setting.

University President Richard Rhodes called it the year's highlight, beaming at the graduates' hopeful smiles and the pride radiating from their supporters.

"For a president, this is the most joyful day," Rhodes shared, noting the visible gratitude from families, friends, and faculty who guided these achievers.

The event wasn't just about diplomas—it honored the unbreakable spirit that defines the Texas A&M-Central Texas family.

Spotlight graduate Alexis Taylor embodied that resilience, arriving in Central Texas as a single mother of four in 2018.

She earned her bachelor's in 2020 and powered through a master's in clinical mental health in under two years, juggling two jobs, childcare, and her own PTSD as a U.S. Army veteran.

"It has been a journey," Taylor reflected, crediting her children as her "guiding light" and her internship at Canyon Creek Mental Health for pushing her forward.

Taylor praised professors like Dr. Samantha Airhart-Larraga, Dr. Kimberly Lagge, and Dr. Caroline Norris for their unwavering support during tough times.

As a veteran, she drew strength from her patients and mentors, turning personal struggles into fuel for success.

Her story mirrors the perseverance of many graduates, proving that determination can overcome even the steepest obstacles.

As tassels turned and embraces flowed, Rhodes emphasized that the day celebrated more than academics—it saluted hope and grit in the face of adversity.

This commencement reinforced the university's role as a beacon for non-traditional students, fostering paths to brighter futures.

With families at the heart, Texas A&M-Central Texas continues inspiring communities through stories of real-world triumph.
