Dallas Koreatown, Richardson Chinatown Score First Highway Signs

Abbott signs bill to guide drivers to two historic Asian American districts

Under the new law signed by Gov. Greg Abbott in June, Dallas’s Koreatown and Richardson’s Chinatown will receive official highway exit signage for the first time.

Key Details:

  • House Bill 3208, authored by Rep. Rafael Anchía, was folded into broader highway‑signage legislation and approved this summer.

  • Signs will mark exits at Royal Lane on I‑35E for Koreatown Dallas, and at Arapaho and Belt Line roads on U.S. 75 for Richardson Chinatown.

  • The Texas Department of Transportation has until September 2026 to install the new signage.

  • Longtime advocates like Charles Park and Johnny Lee view the signs as symbols of cultural recognition, economic vitality and community belonging.
