Hill Country Foundation Secures $60 M for Flood Relief

Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country raises funds in weeks after Fourth of July storms, allocates $4.4 M in second‑round grants to 15 nonprofits

In the two-and-a-half weeks since the July 4 flash floods devastated Central Texas, the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country has raised an astonishing $60 million for relief efforts.

Key Facts:

  • Rapid Fundraising: The Kerr County Flood Relief Fund launched the day of the disaster and doubled its initial $30 million haul within the first week.

  • Second‑Round Grants: On July 22, CEO Austin Dickson announced $4.4 million in second‑round grants to 15 organizations—building on an earlier $5 million distribution to 22 groups.

  • Top Recipients: Ingram ISD received over $1 million to ready school facilities for the fall, while LiftFund secured more than $2 million to support flood‑impacted small businesses.

Dickson praised the outpouring of support—from celebrity donors like Maren Morris and Robert Earl Keen to everyday Texans sending handmade cards and supplies. Looking ahead, the foundation will form a Community Advisory Council to guide long‑term recovery investments and collect data to target remaining needs.

With rebuilding set to take years, the $60 million fund stands as a testament to statewide solidarity—ensuring no Hill Country resident faces the road to recovery alone.
